THE GREAT BOREAL FOREST
The Yukon’s boreal forest is a lush and thriving ecosystem, teeming with life and diversity. Spanning millions of acres, it is a vital part of the region’s natural heritage, providing habitat for countless species of plants and animals, as well as critical ecosystem services like water filtration and carbon sequestration. In recent years, the forestry industry in the Yukon has grown rapidly, providing much-needed jobs and economic opportunities for local communities. But with this growth, comes a responsibility to ensure that forestry practices are sustainable and respectful of the environment. By supporting forestry in the Yukon, we can help preserve this magnificent landscape for generations to come, while also contributing to a strong and prosperous local economy.
