A YESAB Decision Document has been issued, making more wood fiber — including both building logs and fuelwood — available for operators this winter.
The Timber Harvest Plan has been submitted to YESAB, and adequacy review has been extended to February 3. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
YWPA continues supporting planning efforts that identify salvage opportunities, improve winter access, and help ensure sustainable, long-term use of fire-impacted timber areas.
In October, we welcomed over 60 attendees from across the Yukon and Canada.
Key outcomes included:
Strong support for a 2026 conference
Increased awareness of biomass heating and local fiber solutions
Community alignment around responsible forestry and economic development
Recordings and content are being prepared for future membership access.
Our ongoing social media campaigns continue to educate Yukoners about:
Local fiber supply
Wood heat affordability
Chimney safety
Wildfire mitigation
Biomass energy opportunities
These campaigns have strengthened public understanding and improved support for local forestry initiatives.
We’re exploring the possibility of aligning next year’s YWPA AGM with the 2026 Forestry & Bioenergy Conference to improve attendance and engagement for Yukon operators.
